TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

HSL-WB2200 is a water-based, flexible heat seal lacquer for food and blister packaging. The lacquer can be applied in a single layer directly onto aluminum, PET, and paper films and is rapidly activated at temperatures starting at 120°C. It is suitable for packaging made of aluminum, PET, PS, PVC, and PLA. HSL-WB2200 is used for disposable water cups, soda, and dairy products, among other applications. Thanks to its water-based composition, the product is more environmentally friendly and an environmentally friendly alternative to solvent-based systems. It can also be used in aluminum lamination applications.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Stellar HSL-WB2200 is a water-based heat seal lacquer dispersion based on special thermoplastic copolymers and additives. The product can be applied in a single layer directly onto aluminum, PET, and paper surfaces and acts as a dense, versatile adhesive lacquer. The lacquer is activated even at low temperatures; the exact temperature should be adjusted to suit the production conditions.

Coating Weight 4–8 g/m² (Dry Substance)
Viscosity 15–20 s (DIN 53211, 4 mm)
Thinner Distilled Water, Osmosis Water
Drying 130–160 °C for 6–10 seconds

Optimal drying depends on factors such as machine speed, coating weight, temperature profile, evaporation, airflow, and humidity. Residual moisture should be regularly measured and monitored.

Sealing values N/15mm

AL / APET → N/15 mm: 9 (Brugger-HSG C 190°C, 1 s, 460 N, Tolerance ±2)
AL / PS → N/15 mm: 9 (Brugger-HSG C 190°C, 1 s, 460 N, Tolerance ±2)*
PET / PS → N/15 mm: 8 (Brugger-HSG C 190°C, 1 s, 460 N, Tolerance ±2)*
PET / PET → N/15 mm: 7 (Brugger-HSG C 190°C, 1 s, 460 N, Tolerance ±2)

The values apply at 190 °C. Adhesion decreases at lower temperatures.
The effective sealing range is between 140 °C and 190 °C.
A primer coating is recommended for paper.

HYGIENE AND COMPLIANCE

The water-based dispersion Stellar HSL-WB2200 meets the hygienic requirements according to Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, as well as Regulation (EC) No. 10/2011 of the Commission on plastic materials and articles intended for food contact.

WORK SAFETY

Stellar HSL-WB2200 is water-based and non-flammable. Prolonged skin contact should be avoided. For further information, see the Safety Data Sheet and Declaration of Conformity.

WASTE AND DISPOSAL INFORMATION

The product must be disposed of in accordance with national waste regulations. Recommended waste management: Recycling/recycling in accordance with the EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC), Annex 1, Article 13. See the safety data sheet for further information.

STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE

Store in a cool, frost-free place. Protect from frost, direct sunlight, and temperatures above 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. The product has a shelf life of 12 months in the original, unopened packaging. The product must be stored according to official regulations. Mix thoroughly with a dissolver before use.
